The enforcement date was May 25, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>MEX is committed to continued compliance with the\u00a0<strong>GDPR<\/strong>, we value your privacy, and want to make sure that you are aware of your options to control your data on MEX Platform. We have recently made updates to our\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.giftsworldexpo.com\/privacy-policy\/\">Privacy Policy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to increase transparency and comply with the European Union\u2019s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We encourage you to read our policies in full, but here are some highlights of what\u2019s changed:<\/p>\n<h3>What is GDPR, exactly?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)<\/strong>\u00a0replaces the European Union\u2019s 1995 Data Protection Directive. The\u00a0<strong>GDPR<\/strong>\u00a0regulates processing of personal data in the European Union. The\u00a0<strong>GDPR<\/strong>\u00a0gives individuals more rights and control over their data, and provides for increased enforcement and fines for non-compliant organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Organisations are also required to report certain data breaches to authorities, and provide users with increased security requirements with respect to the processing of personal data. The provisions of the GDPR apply to any organization operating in, or processing personal data from individuals in, the European Union, regardless of whether the organisation has a physical presence in the EU.<\/p>\n<h3>How is MEX ensuring compliance with the GDPR?<\/h3>\n<p>To ensure that our users are comfortable with how their data is used, we have been working on data privacy, security, and\u00a0<strong>GDPR<\/strong>\u00a0compliance since early 2012. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible throughout the compliance process. Our high level roadmap with respect to our compliance efforts includes:<\/p>\n<h3>Process<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Performing internal due diligence with respect to areas of the business and product impacted by\u00a0<strong>GDPR<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Developing a timeline of responsibilities and action items to ensure compliance prior to the enforcement date<\/li>\n<li>Reviewing and auditing our third party vendors with respect to their compliance, as applicable<\/li>\n<li>Developing internal and external policies regarding data protection, privacy, and retention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key focus<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Source and surface the type of personal information we collect<\/li>\n<li>Understand how we use personal information to enhance the service used by you.<\/li>\n<li>Define the legal grounds for using personal information<\/li>\n<li>Focus on your rights in relation to the information we hold about you and give you access and control over it\u2019s usage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What do MEX users need to do?<\/h3>\n<p>The only thing you need to do is review our updated\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.giftsworldexpo.com\/privacy-policy\/\">Privacy Policy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to understand how your data is used, protected, and secured on MEX.<\/p>\n<p>Feel free to login an update your preferences as and when you need to \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mexexhibits.com\/\">www.mexexhibits.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GDPR Pledge The\u00a0General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)\u00a0is legislation designed to harmonise data protection laws across the European Union.
